Safari West, the wildlife preserve located in Santa Rosa, joyfully announced the arrival of a new member of its animal family: a southern white rhinoceros calf, born on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. The male calf was named Ozzy in honor of legendary musician Ozzy Osbourne, original lead singer of Black Sabbath, who passed away the same day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ozzy is the second offspring of Eesha, a 2,170-kilogram female who also gave birth to Otto in April 2023. According to park staff, both mother and calf are in good health and are already bonding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is a moment of joy for Safari West and a powerful reminder of our role in conservation,\u201d said Dr. Nancy Lang, founder and director of conservation at the park. \u201cEach rhino birth inspires hope and underscores the importance of protecting these extraordinary animals.
